How We Planned Our Stay: We booked a standard hotel for our arrival to keep things smooth, but rented a spacious apartment for 10 days before flying out. Having a kitchen and space to unwind was an absolute lifesaver between heavy travel days.

Exploring different parts of the city gave us a true feel for how its districts operate. Here is a breakdown of the best neighborhoods to stay in Tashkent to help you pick the right spot.

Best Neighborhoods to Stay in Tashkent

When looking for the best neighborhoods to stay in Tashkent, the city generally boils down to a couple of distinct areas that cater best to travelers depending on whether you want modern cafes, historic bazaars, or a quiet residential apartment..

To help you navigate the city and avoid the traffic, here are the three best areas to consider:

Downtown / Amir Timur Square: The top pick for first-timers, offering great metro connectivity, walkability, cafes, and hotels for every budget. It’s the ideal short-term base before catching a train to Samarkand or Bukhara.

Near Chorsu Bazaar / Old Town: Perfect for immersing yourself in local culture, historic sights, and raw street life. You might not find many traditional hotels here, but rather cozy guesthouses run by local families.

Mirabad District: Centered between the Kosmonavtlar and Tashkent metro stations, this is the best pocket for longer-term apartment rentals. It offers a quieter vibe, great local dining spots (such as Afsona Shevchenko, Restaurant Caravan, or Labi Havuz) and easy access to attractions like the Railway museum and Museum of Applied Arts.

Plus, having the Tashkent Railway Station right in this area makes it super convenient if you need to catch an early morning train to other cities.

🏨 Chorsu Inn – In the same area as Hotel Marwa Tashkent there is this beautiful guesthouse with excellent reviews. Staying there you will get a more authentic neighborhood feeling.

🏨 ART Deluxe Hotel – A more comfortable hotel option closer to the city center, ideal for a short, easy stay. We stayed here for 2 days at the end of our trip and since we didn’t have any exploring left to do at that time, we found the location convenient. If you’re in Tashkent for only 1 day, then maybe it’s best to choose something a bit more central.
